Residency Program
What Inspires You?
Educating tomorrow's leaders for a healthier community
Today, Apple Valley has 35 primary care doctors for every 100,000 people. That’s half the recommended 60 to 80 per 100,000 needed to provide adequate care for our population. This can result in long waits for appointments, traveling out of the area for care and putting off preventive care. As a faith-based nonprofit and mission-driven ministry, Providence St. Mary Medical Center is invested in closing this gap in health care.
Campaign Goal
Together, we can fight food insecurity and homelessness during the pandemic.

Mental Health Initiative for High Desert Youth
Our Help is Here campaign will work with community programs aimed at closing that gap, including a focus on shifting the perception around mental health care. Providence has also developed its own free school program, Work to be Well, that is student-led.Addressing the Mental Health Crisis
In response to concerns of increased mental health crisis, the hospital started a suicide navigation grant program, assisting youth in crisis. The hospital invested to stabilize local food, housing, and health programs. The COVID crisis is informing county and local governments that neighborhood vulnerabilities are readily apparent.A donation makes a difference. Here’s proof.
Educating Tomorrow's Leaders
Providence St. Mary Medical Center has officially applied for accreditation for an internal medicine residency program, a move that promises new educational opportunities to help alleviate a nationwide doctor shortage and improve access to care.
Investing in Solutions
A generous $2.1 million gift - the largest in our ministry's history - is helping Providence St. Mary Medical Center launch a critical initiative to bring more health care providers to our community.
Helping Nurses Advance
With the support of our donor community, Providence St. Mary is supporting our nurses in advancing their careers by elevating their knowledge and skill levels. Each year, the Foundation offers the Frederick and Betty Lou Gross Scholarship to nurses for continuing their education.
