Interventional Radiology is a multi-disciplinary leading force within Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
Providing imaging support for a variety of leading-edge procedures across our departments serves as a way for patients to avoid complex invasive procedures and is truly saving and changing lives. Looking ahead, we want to integrate artificial intelligence technology to catch health concerns sooner and prevent patients from more severe diseases.

Visualizing a Patient's Needs
By offering accurate, live-action visualizations of key areas of the body, Providence St. Mary Medical Center interventional radiologists can deliver biopsies, fluid drainage, pulmonary thrombectomy and stop bleeds without invasive surgery. These procedures offer an alternative to patients who wish to avoid undergoing major surgery.

Interventional radiology (IR) is a medical specialty that performs minimally invasive treatments using radiologic imaging for procedure guidance. Interventional radiology treatments have become the primary method of care for a variety of conditions, offering less risk, less pain and less recovery time, compared to open surgery.

Our leaders developed a plan to launch a residency program to recruit and retain talented physicians and enhance the overall quality of medical care in the community.
Helping Nurses Advance
With the support of our donor community, Providence St. Mary is supporting our nurses in advancing their careers by elevating their knowledge and skill levels. Each year, the Foundation offers the Frederick and Betty Lou Gross Scholarship to nurses for continuing their education.
