Welcome, Our Newest Board Members

Angel Espino

Angel is a financial advisor at Edward Jones, specializing in serving medical professionals, including physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists. With a profound appreciation for their invaluable contributions to their communities, Angel is committed to helping them navigate their financial journeys amid demanding schedules.

Graduating from California Baptist University with a Master of Business Administration in 2017, Angel brings a solid educational foundation to Edward Jones. A California native, Angel has resided in the High Desert region for the past seven years, actively engaging with the local community by supporting businesses, as well as being an active member of the Higher Desert Chamber of Commerce.

Outside the office, Angel enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking and running, immersing himself in the harmony of mountain air. His passion for personal development extends to martial arts, where he is active in Jujitsu and Muay Thai, recognizing the importance of nurturing both body and mind. Angel is honored to extend his service to our community as a member of the Foundation board of directors.

Chico Garza

Marcelino “Chico” Garza, a devoted resident of the High Desert for 45 years, boasts a diverse and illustrious career.

With 22 years of service in the U.S. Army, he honed skills in leadership and public service. Following retirement, he spent 14 years excelling in public relations and sales with Raza Communications Corporation. His passion for education led to 23 years as a special assistant to four San Bernardino County Superintendents, significantly improving educational opportunities.

Chico is not only a leader in his professional endeavors but also a highly sought-after speaker, sharing his insights and experiences at a range of events, from college commencement exercises to law enforcement award banquets. Mike Johnson

As branch leader at Flagstar Bank in Apple Valley, Mike has dedicated the past 12 years to advancing his customers’ financial objectives. His commitment to the High Desert communities extends to the Victor Valley region since his family’s arrival in 2003.

From the banking sector to community involvement, Mike has been actively involved at Mountain View Baptist Church, where he served in a pastoral role for eight years and now holds the positions of minister of finance and deacon. Beyond the church, he participates in various community organizations, such as the Rotary Club of Victorville, serves as a director of a veterans nonprofit group called Thundar, Lightning and Peace, and is president of the local Victor Valley Marketing Group.

Mike and his wife, Sarah, are deeply connected to Providence St. Mary because it has played an integral role in their lives. From the births of their four children to other medical needs, Mike’s desire to reciprocate the support their family has received is the driving force behind his passion to join the Foundation’s board of directors.
